The
Brown Swiss cattle breed produces the second largest quantity of milk per annum -
over 9000Kg - and the milk contains on average
4% butterfat and
3.5% protein, making their milk ideal for producing cheese.
With a
long gestation period, immense size, large furry ears and extremely
docile temperament, the Brown Swiss is a
hardy & resilient breed, capable of subsisting with little care or feed. Originating from the Swiss Alps, they are resistant to the extremes of heat and cold found in such a harsh and unforgiving terrain and climate.
